BLUE BELT TIPS & VIDEOS

Blue belt is where you will be challenged through mind and body. The one-step sparring is significantly more difficult than Yellow Belt, and it will really get you thinking. The first few one-step start in a very similar way, so listen carefully to Adam’s instructions in the videos, as they’re key to understanding and performing each action.

The patterns for blue belt again get longer and more difficult than yellow belt patterns, with new blocks, more advanced kicks and different footwork. Don’t forget the aim of these patterns is to display power and strength, so be sure you are using your waist to emphasize each kick, block, or punch.

Blue belt combination kicks are one of the most difficult combinations and requires core strength to help aid you in directional change. There is also a new kick introduced, the powerful back kick. These kicks will be featured in all our patterns, one-step sparring, kicking combinations and are often seen in free-sparring, so it’s always a good idea to come back to revisit these taekwondo fundamentals.

A tip on this combination is to always keep your weight forwards to maintain a smooth transition through to each kick, also look closely at Adam’s foot placement in the video .

To master these kicks, come join us in our weekly Taekwondo Classes and practice under the instruction of our Master Trainers.
